today in deepest southern melbourne
there was a get together
more than a hundred people showed
nice things were said
and probably a few not-so-nice things were thought
old acquaintances were renewed
even though some probably didnt want to
a bit of public speaking went on
singing the praises of one old person in particular
a man belonging to an archaic institution said his bit
plenty of tears were shed
after the formalities a fair amount mingling occurred
more than some of it was awkward
photos were gawked at
and reminiscing was afoot
it was a sad day

at least thats my best guess...
