the experts warned us not do it
they spelled out all the risks
of our dna's tendency to mutate
they cautioned of the fabled evil spaghetti monsters of yore
the compromised politicians equivocated
as big noodle undermined the science
yet humankind is heedless and dissolute
and inevitably
someone
somewhere
(possibly in the summertime)
eventually surrendered to wheaty temptation
and shagged a packet of ramen
oh the fidelity!
