i finally got around to watching the blues brothers fillum
its one of those big dealy films
that was culturally important in the ochentas
but i never got around to watching it
i might have been put off by the soul tunes
or maybe it was just bloody (small) mindedness
much to the opprobrium of all the hip young thangs
afuckingllora?
it was certainly enjoyable
and the music was indeed cool
especially the bits by the musical legends
kicking arse with their own tunes
james brown, aretha franklin, ray charles et al (not weird)
that i can now appreciate
if not adore
and i enjoyed checking back in with dan aykroyd and john belushi
whose 'naughty' films i had giggled at back then on the tiniest yet fattest of tvs
como animal house, ghostbusters, spies like us
back when giant (twats) bestrode the earth
and i learned a bit about the saturday night live phenom
which included other childhood comedy movie faves
like chevy chase and bill murray
but like most things that get built up with hype and carry on
like the eiffel tower or sake
it didnt add up to the masterpiece you had imagined
any (of the 13 available) road(s)
it was highly enjoyable and very clever
and taught me summat about soul music
arrivederla ...
