by killing people in other nations
and sending doggies to mars
and amidst the havoc and devastation of maos cultural revolution
a small group of chinese historical scholars conducted a thorough revision and reinterpretation of important works
the most famous of the military literature studied
was 'the art of war' by renowned military strategist sun tzu
this treatise was written in what is known as
the late spring and autumn period, around the fifth century BCE
as they pored over the multitude of pages of the 13 chapters
they sought to create a simplified and contemporary version
of the intricacies of ancient military strategy and tactics
after a multi decade struggle through the dense texts
they managed to condense this ancient martial masterpiece
and translate it into programmable digital form
which lead to the 1980s wonder that is
